A Dukkha Haiku Trio

Ignorance

Ripples. Clouds. Gossip

Fool the senses, distort minds.

Incite dark desires…

Desire

Greed. Envy. Wanting.

Distract us from our present,

Seeking for themselves.

Attachment

Objects. Prestige. Cash.

They teach to take, never give.

They exhaust the minds..

Melting Hearts

Ice turns to tears,

Frozen rivers flow once more,

Hearts can love again.

Nor life knows its death.

Death of a Flower

A child plucks it for his own,

Uprooted, flower dies.

Hard as rock they stood,

Defying the cold and heat,

They will too crumble.

Sacred Nature*

1

We are born to die,

Nothing with out each other.

Without nature, dead.

2

We erected temples,

Worshipped the gods of creation.

We looked to the stars.

3

We believed in magic.

Each season, life and death,

Inevitable, precious.

4

Powerless we felt,

This indomitable nature.

Beyond our control.

5

We prayed in the hope.

In the hope it would listen.

But we never knew.

6

We knelt and murdered,

In the name of unknown gods.

Violating nature.

7

We have progressed. Yes.

Enlightened with the ages.

Magic exorcised.

8

Yet, little has changed.

We are born to die, again.

We need each other.

9

Is their life beyond?

Yes or no make no difference.

It's this life I have.

10

we destroy ourselves,

Each time we forget our roots.

Our sacred nature.

*These ten Haikus were Inspired by the Remains of a Neolithic Temple that is found in the town of Tarxien, Malta following a visit there.

Clouds

Clouds obscure our vision.

Yet, they protect our weak eyes,

From our blinding sun!

I hide my tears... (A Haiku Trio)

I hide my tears.

These  mindless words, these vain acts.

I can never change.

I hid this deep pain.

Unbearable sense of shame.

But, past can't be changed.

Only I can change.

And fine true  redemption in -

Mindful compassion.

A Day of Shame

Yes, we must forgive...

But I refuse to forget...

This moment  of shame.

Birds

A bird flies and dies.

From the Earth it rises too.

It knows it must rest.

Far beyond this land... (Quartet)

Far beyond the land...

One hears the fog horns lament...

Lives we lost at sea.

Hungry waves bid us...

To remember that nothing...

Of our vanities...

Our exterior clothes...

That blind us to our naked..

Naked realities.

Fog horns again weep...

We think we won the world...

To lose our natures.

We Own Nothing

All we have, we think we have,

But our lives will end!

Word Games: A Haiku Trio

1

Words are illusions.

The shields of our confused minds.

To reality.

2

Words are like a sword.

They protect or destroy us.

Depending on use..

3

Little or too much.

Words can cure or poison minds.

Water that saves or drowns.

Scribblings in the Sand: A Haiku Quintet

Meaning

Scribblings in the sand.
Lives lived will be forgotten.
Once they meant something..

Scribblings in the sand.
Words left by the un known hand
Now, they mean nothing!

Memory

Scribblings in the sand.
Memories are forgotten.
They just fade away.

Scribblings in the sand.
All the knowledge we once had.
Lost in time and space.

These Scribblings in the sand...

Scribblings in the sand.
Words found in the book of life.
Will too cease to be!

To All Mothers...

1
Mothers of all time,
Now, you made us who we are.
You've given us life.

2
Mothers without child.
You've given birth to new hope.
You've given us life.

3
Mothers, you're human.
You may fall and rise, but then,
You've given us life.

4
If it hadn't been you,
We would not be here. No one.
For that, we love you...

5
Divided we are.
We forget that we all had…
We all had mothers!

Vision Quest: A Quintet

1
My eyes wide open,

Struggle to see much yonder...

So weak they've become.

2
Tears I cried too

There's an invisible truth.

Only some can see.

3
No words or symbols.

No one has any privilege.

To witness the real.

4
Your eyes can hinder.

If you aren't that careful.

And believe your eyes.

5
Ny vision beyond.

Beyond sight. Beyond life. Yet, finite.

Both clear and not.

The Death of A Cruel Month: A Haiku Trio

A murder

'Twas a cruel month.

A cruel month called April.

Gone my vanity!

A Mourning…

I ask myself why?

Nobody answers. No one!

April - scarred my soul!

Morning

Have I lost my self?

Have you uncovered my mask?

Freed my true being?

Saturday, April 13, 2013

I am nobody...

Being

I am the phoenix…

I will rise from my ashes…

I will live again!

Becoming

Ever constant change…

This cycle of renewal…

I will die again!

Hoping

The ritual of death…

To be buried in this earth…

Hoping to return...

Springtime (short version)

Rejoice for it's spring!

Fresh like a newborn baby -

It fills us with hope.

Springtime: A Haiku Trio

The Coming

Spring has come again,

A slumber to our darkness.

Till the cruel month.

A Renewal

Our lives are renewed.

Fruits ripen, flowers blossom.

Little babies rejoice!

Now...

The sun seems to smile.

As creatures glow in delight.

Let’s enjoy this now!

A Secret Life: A Haiku Quartet

An Unspoken Childhood

A hidden boyhood

Lifeless springs, funeral bells…

Loss of innocence.

Vain Youth

Summers of vain youth,

Proud, ambitious … but empty...

Happy delusions.

Autumn Coming

I await autumn.

Expecting the falling leaves,

An end to secrets.

The Pains of Wisdom

Winters of despair,

The sun dying, like the boy…

The pains of wisdom.

Freedom of the Soul: A Haiku Trio

I live these days,
Living in the present, now.
Expecting nothing.

Need not I worry.
About what was or what will be.
Precious is present.

Futures are unknown.
Stars may die, flowers blossom.
My heart should be free.

The Darkness of My Soul

It's dark, hope is dim.

Joyful memory extinguished.

Obscure is the soul.

Am I a starchild?

PAIN

Like a storm pain came.

A violent destroyer.

It slowly faded away.

SUFFERING

Like a hungry fire,

This pain consumes my senses.

But, flames burn out too.

THE BODY

My body will fight,

And today recover will.

Yet, will decay, die.

BEING

As for my being...

I don't know what I will be...

Will I return home?

IMPERMANENCE

Yes,that day will come.

When we all have to leave our lives.

Where will I return?

ORIGIN

To my origins?

From which all life once derived?

Matter so basic

A STARCHILD

We're products of stars...

Those distant relatives above.

Am I a star child?

A Trio of Tears

1

Teawrs of a child...

Rain drops water thirsty wells ...

Grain's saved, farmer weeps ...

2

Is this the water ,

That we seek comfort in?

That which gives life?

3

Everyday renewal.

One's pain becomes other's gain.

We're one with water.

Auschwitz

In memory of those who were inhumanely killed in the name of a perverse ideology.

1

Black smoke rises above,

Corpses burning in ovens.

Wagner is playing.

2

Lost those who survive.

Stripped of any will to live.

The Valkyrie rides.

3

They lost hope in God.

The nightingale sadly sings.

Humankind gone mad?

4

They would be free, yes.

Those who were still alive.

But could they ever be?

5

Humankind forgets

We derive from common roots

Ancestral mothers

What of Pain? Haiku Quintet

I

Is life worth living?

When the pain overwhelms sense

When hope fades a way

II

A fire does burn out.

Uncaring for its actions

The life it killed, is dead.

III

Words that mean nothing.

Devoid of form or substance.

Creations of mind.

IV

Ashes to ashes.

Dust to dust Never forever.

Pain is growth. Growth, life.

V

Another day that ends.

A baby born, fading life.

No pain, no renewal...
